Beginner to Advanced

College Park Recreational Gymnastics & Tumbling

In partnership with The College Park Tumbleweeds, College Park Gymnastics offers recreational (noncompetitive) classes for beginner to advanced gymnasts and tumblers of all ages! At College Park Gymnastics, every athlete starts with strong fundamentals and progresses through a structured pathway designed for long-term success. Our recreational program builds strength, flexibility, confidence, and technical precision — preparing gymnasts not only for skill advancement but for future competitive opportunities.

From Beginner to Advanced levels, each gymnast progresses through coach-guided evaluations and clear skill milestones. For athletes pursuing competitive training, Summer Training Camp serves as the evaluation pathway into the Tumbleweeds Competitive Program.

Whether your gymnast is just starting or ready to refine higher-level skills, our program provides the foundation and structure for growth.

Beginner Gymnastics

Starting level for all participants

Beginner Gymnastics is the entry point for all new participants ages 6 and up. No prior experience is required. Athletes develop foundational skills across all events, including rolls, handstands, cartwheels, bridges, strength drills, and introductory event technique. This level establishes proper form, body control, and safety awareness. Progression to Intermediate Gymnastics is based on coach recommendation and demonstrated skill mastery.

Intermediate Gymnastics

Intermediate Gymnastics builds upon foundational skills with increased emphasis on strength, consistency, flexibility, and technical refinement. Athletes begin learning more complex progressions across all events while improving control and execution. This level prepares gymnasts for higher skill development and increased training expectations. Progression to the next level is based on coach recommendation and skill evaluation.

Advanced Gymnastics

Advanced Gymnastics is designed for athletes who have demonstrated strong mastery of intermediate skills and are ready for higher-level progressions and increased training intensity. Gymnasts continue developing strength, confidence, and consistency across all events. Participation in Summer Training Camp serves as the evaluation opportunity for potential placement into the Tumbleweeds Competitive Program. Advancement remains based on coach recommendation and skill evaluation.

Placement into this class is by coach invitation only, and continued progression is based on skill evaluation and recommendation.

Beginner Tumbling

Athletes build flexibility, core strength, and body control necessary for safe skill progression. Progression to Intermediate Tumbling is based on coach recommendation and skill evaluation.

Intermediate Tumbling

Intermediate Tumbling is for athletes who have mastered foundational tumbling skills and are ready for more advanced progressions such as round-offs, back walkovers, front and back handsprings, and connected skill combinations. Progression and advancement are based on coach recommendation and skill evaluation.
